The National Monuments Service's description

The Kerry Field Club visited this site in 1941-42. Here an ancient roadway was discovered under 4 feet of bog. This roadway runs through a bog due S of Caher Gal (KE017-011----) and was constructed by driving oak stakes into the ground and laying horizontal beams across them. The space between the planks was filled with rubble. The roadway runs N-S, crossing about 200m of bog.

The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 96. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
