The National Monuments Service's description

This standing stone was recorded by O'Donovan in his Ordnance Survey Name Books (1841) as being 'a standing stone about four feet over surface'. In 1942 the Kerry Field Club visited the site and stated that it formed part of the field fence and it was 'a small gallán of conglomerate with no markings'.

The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 27. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
