The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diameter 24.2m N-S, 27m E-W
This bivallate rath is situated on a rise which slopes steeply E-W. The rath consists of a sub-circular area enclosed by a well-defined earthen bank with a steep exterior side. It is on average 7.2m wide, and rises to 2.1m-3.6m high externally and 1.6m high internally. The intervening fosse is U shaped and well defined, 1m-3m wide. The outer earthen bank is also well defined, though to the S it is much lower and has a steep exterior side due to the slope in the land. The outer bank is on average 7m wide and varies from .6m-2.6m in height internally and 2.6m-6m in height on the external S side. An exterior fosse can be noted NW through N to NE, where it is U shaped, c 2.4m wide and 1m below the height of the surrounding land. A 4m wide opening exists on the inner bank to the E and a causeway extends across the fosse to a 3.4m wide opening in the outer bank. A 2.2m wide gap exists to the W. The maximum external diameter N-S is 65.7m and 56m E-W.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 624. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
