The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diameter 30m N-S
This site is situated immediately SW of Causeway village. It appears as a circular enclosure on the 1841-42 OS map, but has been much distorted. This is a circular area enclosed by a well-defined bank, except to the NNW where the erection of a shed has caused a gap in the bank. The bank measures 5m wide at the base and rises to a maximum height of 2m externally and 1m internally. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land and in the NE though E to SE there is what appears to be an internal fosse or large depression for c 2.4m; it is 2.5m wide and 1.2m deep.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 565. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
