This univallate rath is situated immediately S of KE014-070----. It consists of a circular area enclosed by a high, well-defined earthen bank and external fosse. The enclosing bank is on average 6.5m in width at the base, and it rises to a maximum of 4.4m above the fosse and 2.8m above the interior. The external fosse is U shaped and well defined especially to the W through N to E. It is between 1.6m to 2.6m wide and between .6m to 1.5m deep. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land and access to the interior is gained by a 9.6m wide entrance on the E side. In the W sector of the interior there is a slight mound (KE014-071001-) 8m x 10m externally. A fieldbank touches this site on the E side, just S of the entrance.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 459. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
