This sub-oval-shaped enclosure is situated on pastureland which is sloping S. The view is extensive in all directions. This enclosure is raised .8m above the surrounding land. A slight exterior fosse is noticeable, .6m wide and .3m deep.
The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land. In the S sector of the interior are the possible remains of a hut site. It is now horseshoe-shaped in plan with its in-curve facing E. At a distance of 4m to the N is another horseshoe-shaped structure with its opening facing N. Both structures are constructed of stone.
The internal diameter of this enclosure is 24.4m N-S and 14.4m E-W.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 1057. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
