The National Monuments Service's description

Internal diameter 18m N-S, 20m E-W
Bawnaraha/Bán na Ráth (lea-ground of the ringfort) is situated in fine pastureland with good views afforded in all directions. This bivallate rath consists of an inner circular area enclosed by a bank, exterior fosse and outer bank. The enclosing inner earthen bank rises to 1.4m above the interior. The exterior side is much steeper, and this can especially be seen to the S, where it rises to 2.9m above the fosse. The enclosing fosse ranges from 2m-4.4m in width. The outer earthen bank is much narrower than the inner one and is on average 3m in width at the base. It rises to .7m-1.8m above the fosse and .6-1.2m above the surrounding land. The W through N to E sector of the outer bank has been used as a field fence. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land. The original entrance may have been to the SE, where a 4.3m wide gap exists in the inner bank. The overall external diameter of this site is 46m N-S, and 42m E-W.

The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 439. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
