The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diameter 29m N-S, 27m E-W
Situated two fields N of the River Galey in poorly drained land, this univallate rath consists of a circular area enclosed by a well-defined bank and exterior fosse. The enclosing bank is c 4m wide and rises to 1.8m high externally and c 1m above the interior. The external fosse encloses most of the site, except to the SW where a fieldbank and ditch cut through it, though it does not affect the bank. The fosse is shallow and varies from 1m-c 3m in width and is .4m deep. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land and is divided into two unequal parts by a fieldbank running NW-SE and leaving the fort at the S sector, where it cuts through the bank and exterior fosse. In the SW sector of the interior is a shallow rectangular pit, 2.4m x 2.8m x .3m deep.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 411. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
