The National Monuments Service's description
Castle Shannon (site of). The only reference we have to this castle is by Smith (1756), who states that 'some time ago occupied by the late Rev Thomas Connor, cantor of Ardfert, who was a gentleman well versed in the history and antiquities of his country'. No visible trace of this castle survives.
