The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diameter 38m
This bivallate rath is situated in low-lying pastureland immediately N of the main Ballybunnion-Listowel road. It consists of a circular area enclosed by a well-defined bank, fosse and outer bank. The outer bank has been much levelled and is barely distinguishable. It measures c 4m-c 7m in width at the base and .1m-.3m in height. The enclosing fosse, best preserved to the N to E and NW to SW, cannot be distinguished; elsewhere it measures c 4m in width. The inner enclosing earthen bank is more defined and measures 1.3m above the fosse and 1m above the interior. The interior is at a slightly higher level than the surrounding land. The entrance would appear to lie to the SE and is 7m wide.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 304. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
