Situated on gently sloping pastureland with fair views in all directions, this site consists of a circular area enclosed by a bank and exterior fosse. The enclosing earthen bank survives to a maximum external height of 2.4m and 1m above the interior. The width of the bank at the base measures on average 5m. A flat-bottomed fosse encloses the site except to the N to NW, where it is not distinguishable. Elsewhere it ranges between 1.4m-2.4m in width and is c 1m deep. The interior is at a slightly higher level than the surrounding land and three main gaps exists to the S, E and NW, measuring 3m, 3m and 4.6m respectively.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 275. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
