The National Monuments Service's description

Marked on the 1841-42 OS as 'Kyle burial ground', this site appears as 'Kyle burial ground (disused)' on the 1914 OS map. It is situated in the corner of a pastoral field and immediately to the NW lies a reputed holy well (KE002-018----). The S and W banks of this burial ground have been completely levelled by the erection of modern fieldbanks running N-S and E-W. What remains today is a roughly square area in plan, which is enclosed to the N through E to SE by an earthen bank. The internal diameter N-S measures 51m, while the external diameter measures 55m. The internal and external diameter E-W measures 48m and 54m respectively. The bank measures c 6m wide at the base, 1.3m high above the surrounding land and .8m above the interior. Three breaks in the bank are to be noted, two on the N bank and one to the SE, which measures 9m, 4m and 4m respectively in width. In the E sector of the interior a large stone slab, possibly marking a burial, and other scattered stones can also be noted.

The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 846. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
