The National Monuments Service's description

Discovered during monitoring of topsoil-stripping in advance of construction of the N9 Moone–Timolin– Ballitore road, close to the summit of an extensive grass-covered sand and gravel deposit, and archaeologically excavated (Excavation Licence No. 00E0193: Ó Ríordáin 2000 (No. 506) in http://www.excavations.ie [Accessed 15 January 2013]). A rectangular capstone (L 1.6m; Wth1.1m; T 0.34m) covered a square cist (L 0.79m N-S; Wth 0.78m; D 0.55m) formed by four stone slabs; there was no floor slab. It contained a crouched skeleton lying on its right side, facing W with the head at the N end. An upright bowl food vessel lay on the hands, close to the head on its W side. A large, roughly circular pit (diam. 2.15m E-W; D 0.84m), had been dug to accommodate the cist. Within an immediate rectangular area (c. 10m N-S; c. 5m E-W) a further seven pit burials were uncovered (KD036-051001-).
