The National Monuments Service's description

Fitzgerald (JKAS 1903, 163-7) mentions two possible souterrains in the immediate vicinity of the monastery (KD036-025001-). One (KD036-025005-) was uncovered in 1903 below the road immediately to the N of the present cemetery. It was of dry stone construction, roofed with flags, (Wth. 0.6m, D. 0.9m) and extended N towards the mill. It was reported to have contained human bones. A second possible souterrain (KD036-025006-), apparently similar, was found close to the E end of the present church. Both are now filled in.
