The National Monuments Service's description
Fitzgerald (1912-14, 243), quoting Giraldus Cambrensis, records that Hugh de Lacy, Justiciar of Ireland, built a castle at 'Norrach' for Robert son of Richard, and that later ‘Le Norragh’ was burnt by Philip de Stanton on 16 November 1286. The precise location of the castle is unknown.
