The National Monuments Service's description
At the higher, S-end, of a narrow N-S esker, which has been partially quarried away. immediately N of the monument. A fairly well-preserved, raised, circular area (int diams. 22m N-S; 21m E-W; ext. diams. 55.7m N-S; 53.4m E-W) is defined by an inner earthen bank (int. H 0.6-1.3m; Wth across top 1.3-2.3m; ext H 2.7-3.9m) with an entrance gap (Wth 1.9m) at SSE, a narrow dry fosse (Wth at base 1.9-2.2m; D 0.5-1m) and by a second, low outer bank (int H 0.5-1m; Wth across top 1.2-1.7m; ext H0.4-1.9m). A raised rectangular, platform (12m N-S; 9.2m E-W) defined by a low scarp (H0.5m) occupies the internal NW quadrant, and a low triangular (max. 7.5m E-W; 6.5m N-S) projects S from the outer face of the outer bank at SSW. If viewed from the W, the monument has a high, motte-like profile, and its steep profiles and absence of a causeway crossing the fosse results in a well-defended site.
