The National Monuments Service's description
According to the OSL (Herity 2002, 65 (189)) a bridge was built over the River Liffey in 1319 by Maurice Jakis, a Canon of the Church of Kildare. The bridge, however, was ‘said to have spanned the Liffey in a different place from where the present bridge of Kilcullen bridge {town} crosses it.’
