The National Monuments Service's description
In a graveyard (KD028-022002-). The church was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and was dependant on the church (KD028-049005-) in Old Kilcullen (Omurethi 1899-1902, 318, 322-4). A restored (1979-80) rectangular structure (ext. 15.8m E-W; 7.1m N-S) built of uncoursed rubble limestone masonry (wall T 1.2m). There are opposing doorways in the N and S sidewalls, opposing window opes at the E ends of the N and S walls, and a window ope in the E gable wall. A double bellcote on the W gable wall is incorporated into a later, very narrow (Wth 1.7m E-W) three-storey tower which is accessed via an intramural stairs in the W wall. Doorways in the tower gave access to wall-walks on the N and S sidewalls of the church. The interior contains an effigial tomb (KD028-022001-).
