The National Monuments Service's description
According to Healy (1985, 2 SMR file), there were two castles in Tipperkevin, no remains of which now survive. According to local information, large amounts of stone were found during ploughing neighbouring fields in the adjoining townlands of Tipperkevin and Bawnoges. In 1986 the ASI recorded that 'according to the caretaker of Tipperkevin churchyard (KD024-020001-), this cottage was known as Doran's of the castle. The adjacent fields were knocked into one, and according to Mr. Nolan, there was a lot of stone there. There are no traces of any castle there now, the area had recently been tilled at time of inspection' (ASI report 22/05/1986). The precise location of this castle within the townland of Tipperkevin has not been identified.
