The National Monuments Service's description
According to Bradley et al (1986 vol. 2, 177-8), a reference in an ecclesiastical taxation of 1302-6 to the church of the 'vill of Harold in the Deanery of Balymore' is probably a reference to Harristown, while an earlier mention of Haroldstown Church being in waste c. 1294 is accepted as referring to the same church. No visible surface trace of a church survives in Harristown. Tickell (1946-63, 280) however, suggests that the estate church of Harristown was probably St. James' Church (KD029-005001-) in Coghlanstown, the adjoining townland to the E.
