The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on S edge of gently sloping grassland overlooking area of marshland and stream immediately to SE which marks townland boundary with Kill East. Kill motte and bailey (KD019-008004) c. 1km to SSW, Castlewarden motte and bailey (KD015-009001-) approx. 2.4km to NE. Bishopscourt Castle (KD015-012----) was located near Bishopscourt House located approx. 1km to the N. A linear earthwork depicted on 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a field boundary running roughly WNW-ESE to the SW of a newly built house consists of a high round topped earthen bank (top Wth c. 2m; H 1.5m) with V-shaped fosse (D 1m; Wth 1.5m) running along NE side. Mr. O'Malley suggested that this may be an upstanding section of the Dublin 'Pale' a section of which (KD020-008----) remains upstanding approx. 4km to the SE at Kilteel Church (KD020-007002-) and graveyard (KD020-007006-). Upstanding earthwork possibly represents the remains of a medieval boundary between two manorial estates (Kill Manor & Castlewarden) or could possibly belong to the Dublin pale.
