The National Monuments Service's description
In a graveyard (KD020-009006-). A small, earthfast, rectangular stone (ext. dims L 0.41m; Wth 0.35m; H above ground 0.19m) with a rectangular mortice (dims L 0.25m; Wth 0.2m; D 0.51m) may be a cross base. Known locally as the 'wart stone' (pers. comm. B. McCabe). In 2008 the cross-base was described by Byrne (2014, 8) as following; 'The existence of this previously unrecorded cross base, which is located to the south of the church (KD020-009005-) was brought to attention by Mr. Warren Ogden. Its long axis is aligned N-S and it comprises a square granite base with rounded corners (dims. 0.44m N-S x 0.38m E-W), with a central squared mortice-hole (0.27m x 0.2m). The mortice is wedge-shaped in profile and 0.55m in depth with a rounded base. The cross-base is earth-fast and no investigations, other that the removal of leaf detritus from the mortice hole, were undertaken with respect to this feature'. According to Mr. Brian McCabe (pers. comm.) of the Naas Local History Group, 'a substantially buried, roughly hewn, tapering granite cross (KD020-009013-)' may be associated with this cross-base.
