The National Monuments Service's description
Prominently sited on a moderately steep-sided pasture ridge with extensive views in all directions. A roughly rectangular area (dims. L c. 60m E-W; Wth c. 40m N-S) contains a round tower (KD015-007003-) and a medieval parish church (KD015-007005-). Legible burial markers date from the 18th C; the earliest recorded commemorates a death in 1700: 'This burial place belongeth to, John Daniel Bacon, for his posticity. Here liet the body of, Thomas Bacon, who departed this life, 3rd March 1700, aged, 83 years.' (A. Ryan. 'A list of graveyard transcriptions from Oughterard Graveyard', Co. Kildare Online Electronic History Journal, Kildare County Library and Arts Services.)
