The National Monuments Service's description
According to Bradley et al. (1986, vol. 2, 130), 'The placename Cill Droichead indicates that a bridge was present in Celbridge from pre-Norman times. Nothing is known of the form of the earliest bridge or its medieval and 17th century successors.'
