The National Monuments Service's description

According to Bradley et al. (1986, vol. 2, 160), the functions of the motte (KD004-021003-) appear to have been replaced in the early 15th century by a stone castle which is referred to in various documents as having been repaired in 1420 and as being an important part of Pale boundary in 1467. It was valued at forty pounds by the Civil Survey of 1654 (Curtis 1933, iii, 29-30; Simington 1952, 199). No visible surface trace of this monument survives. While its precise location is uncertain, it may have been erected on the motte.
