The National Monuments Service's description
O'Leary (1896-99, 137) describes and sketches a slightly damaged rectangular stone (dims. H c. 0.75m; Wth c. 0.43m) which bears the coat of arms of John Lye, a date of 1578 and a fragmentary inscription, 'IHON. LY BILDED THIS T… ' which, he says, records the erection of a castle (KD003-017----). He states that the stone is, 'built into the porch of the thatched dwelling house of Mary Ennis, hard by'. It has not been located.
