The National Monuments Service's description

According to the OSL (Herity 2002, 33), ' … there is an old castle, none of which now remains, but an irregular heap of ruins. It is said that it was possessed by one of the 12 sons of Horus (Pierce) Birmingham, all of whom had castles in this neighbourhood'. On a low-lying, non-defensive site in open, very gently undulating pasture and associated with a possible medieval field system (KD003-003002-) and hollow-way (KD003-003003-). A low, circular grassed-over cairn (base diam. 10m; upper surface diam. 2m; H 2.7-3m) with some undressed, mortared-stone projecting through the sod cover is all that survives of what may have been a tower house.
