The National Monuments Service's description

This grass-covered circular icehouse, which is constructed of mortared coursed masonry, was built into the external face of the inner bank of a rath (GA125-124001-) at NE. A pointed arch opening leads to a short passageway (L 2.5m; H 1.7m) that accesses the interior, which is barrel shaped (int. diam. 3m; H 3.9m). The roof is domed and corbelled. It was built c. 1780 (see www.buildingsofireland.ie last accessed 16 February 2018).
