In level pastureland. Marked on the OS 1:2500 plan (surveyed 1912-16) as a subcircular enclosure (c. 36m E-W; c. 32m N-S) defined by a bank and fosse with traces of a possible outer bank from NE to SE. A field boundary curves around the monument from WSW to N. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 287, no. 23) as an ‘Earthen fort’ which was ‘extremely damaged’; only a section of the bank (L 48m; Wth 3.6m; H 1.2m) survived; the outline of the remainder was visible in the ploughed field. In a ‘modern plantation’ to the N of the bank were traces of a ‘ditch’ that may have been associated with the rath. No visible surface trace of the bank survives. However, the outline of the monument is clearly visible on the OSi digitalglobe aerial photography.
