The National Monuments Service's description

This cross is associated with a holy well (GA114-057003-) dedicated to St Coleman. It stands to its W of the well and it is believed to mark the spot where the saint was born (Long 1978, 12-13). On inspection in November 1982 the cross had been smashed but an inscription on its base indicated that it was erected in 1901. On re-inspection in July 1993 a Celtic cross had been erected on the original base stone.
