The National Monuments Service's description

On a local hill summit, on Inis Mór overlooking Fearann an Choirce to NW. Dún Beag, as it is known locally, is a very poorly preserved oval cashel (N-S 70m, E-W 36.5m) defined by a grassed-over drystone wall, best preserved at NE. A gap at NE could be original: outside it is a small quadilateral annexe enclosed by a ruined drystone wall with a blocked up lintelled entrance way at NE. The interior of the cashel contains three clochans (GA110-066001-, GA110-066002-, GA110-066003-). (Kinahan 1869d, 28; Robinson 1980)

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
