The National Monuments Service's description

In April 1937 seven human skulls and other bones were discovered while digging foundations for a house at Esker, near Ballinasloe, Co. Galway. The remains were discovered at a depth of c. 0.4m below the ground surface. The site was reported to the Garda Síochána at Banagher, and the report was relayed to the NMI by the Superintendant at Birr station. The site was not visited by NMI personnel (pers. comm. M. Cahill and M. Sikora).
