The National Monuments Service's description
In the list of castles in Galway, compiled in 1574, is one at 'Kilcwayne' in the barony of Longford, then in the possession of 'Cogh Omadin' (Nolan 1901, 110). 'This is probably a variation of the townland name 'Kilquain'. Not located.
