Burial mound

The National Monuments Service's description

On the crest of a low ridge in pastureland. Known locally as ‘Leaba Nora’ (McCaffrey 1952, 10, 233), this much-denuded and poorly preserved mound (12.2m E-W; 9.4m N-S; H 1.4m at W; 0.3m at E) is overlain at S by a NE-SW running field wall. It may have extended into the field to the S but that field has been reclaimed and no visible surface trace is evident. The E half of the mound is very denuded and low; one possible outer revetting stone projects from the sod cover at NE. The W half is better preserved because the side stones of the W side of a N-S running passage through the centre of the mound revet it. The passage is defined by three very large boulders and one small one, all roughly dressed. It ends at a backstone at S. The modern field wall runs over this stone. There is no trace of the corresponding E side of the passage. A house site (GA104-153----) lies c. 35m to the NE. (McCaffrey 1956, 190; Killanin and Duignan 1967, 190)
