The National Monuments Service's description
On the edge of the steep scarp which forms the N bank of the Kilcolgan River. This heavily overgrown D-shaped rath (c. 42.5m E-W) is defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. Whether its D-shape is deliberate or due to cliff-edge erosion is unclear. The outer bank has been almost totally destroyed by a laneway which borders the monument from W through N to E. The fosse is currently used as a rubbish dump. Overgrowth obscures the enclosing elements. (Redington 1912a, 175-6; Westropp 1919, 175; McCaffrey 1952, 202-3, no. 22)
