The National Monuments Service's description
In gently undulating farmland. Marked on the 1933 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a subcircular enclosure (c. 55m N-S; c. 40m E-W) cut by a NNE-SSW running field boundary at NW and SW. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 197, no. 40) as an 'Earthen fort' which was defined by the very denuded remains of a bank '154' [46.9m] long 8' [2.4m] wide and 2'3" [0.7m] wide'. On inspection in November 1982 all that was visible was a long bank running parallel to the field boundary which did not appear to be of any archaeological significance. No visible surface trace of the enclosure survived. Testing in advance of the proposed construction of two dwelling houses was undertaken at the site in May 2005. No features or artefacts of archaeological significance were revealed (Fitzpatrick and Rooney 2005).
