The National Monuments Service's description

Situated within the SW quadrant of a cashel (GA097-061----), this souterrain (L >30m) cuts through the enclosing cashel wall at SW and reappears immediately beyond it. It is irregular in plan and consists of two roughly L-shaped passages which are separated by an area of collapse. The N passage, which is situated within the cashel, runs N-S along its long axis (L 13.2m; Wth 1.1m). The short axis (L 5m) extends from its NW end and runs E-W. This passage is for the most part collapsed and filled with rubble but some roof lintels and sections of the side-walls remain intact. At the extreme SW end of the long axis a displaced side-stone suggests that the direction of the passage changed to a NE-SW direction beneath the cashel wall. It re-emerges outside the cashel wall where the intact S passage is evident. The short axis of this passage (L 3.2m) runs N-S and the longer E-W axis (L 8.5m; Wth 1.63m; H 0.98m) extends off its SW end. Present access is via a displaced lintel near S end of this section. There is also a possible souterrain (GA097-061003-) in the SE quadrant.
