The National Monuments Service's description

The exact location of this (leper?) hospital which was dedicated to St Bridget is uncertain; possibly in the Prospect Hill area to NE of Galway town (GA094-100----). Founded c. 1541 by Thos. Lynch Fitzstephen and burned by Hugh O'Donnell in 1597. No visible trace survives. (McErlean 1906; Hardiman 1820, 30, 81; Gwynn and Hadcock 1970, 351)

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993).
