The National Monuments Service's description
On the crest of a ridge in grassland. Known as ‘The rath of the Hound’s Stone’, it was described by Holt (1912, 228) as being irregular in plan and almost levelled. It was cut through by the
Ballynacloghy road and no trace of it survived to S of the road. Holt (ibid.) noted that ‘immediately to the E., beyond a field wall, are the foundations of a small hut [GA094-013002-] and yard, below which, as revealed by two apertures is a 'souterrain' (GA094-013001-). Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 122, no. 39) as a circular despoiled ‘Earthen fort’ (diam. c. 50m). He could not find the ‘hut’ or ‘souterrain’, and local people informed him that the latter had been closed up. No visible surface trace of the rath survives.
