The National Monuments Service's description

At S end of a graveyard on level ground in a housing estate at Mervue on E outskirts of Galway city. Much-ruined medieval church (WSW-ENE; L 11.5m, Wth 4.5m). The present remains of E window are the result of modern repair. A gap in N wall may indicate the position of doorway. Bonded into W wall is an enigmatic annexe (L 3.8m, Wth 4.4m) with opposing pointed arches occupying the full width of its N and S walls. (O'Flanagan 1927a, Vol. 1, 395-7)

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993).
