The National Monuments Service's description
On a hummock in grassland. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a curving boundary in NE corner of a field. What survives is a poorly preserved enclosure (N-S c. 24m, E-W c. 16.5m) defined by an inner scarp, intervening fosse and outer bank, all of which survive from SSE through W to NW. Quarrying has destroyed the enclosing elements from NW through N to NE. A road, running N-S, cuts though E part of the monument and no visible trace survives to E of it. Possibly a landscape feature or the poorly preserved remains of a ringfort.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
