The National Monuments Service's description
On a ridge in undulating grassland. An overgrown circular ringfort (D c. 36m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The outer bank is revetted with stone; best preserved at NE. There is an entrance gap (Wth 2m) at E. Centrally placed within the interior is a probable souterrain (GA087-111001-). The name 'Children's Fort' refers to CBG (GA087-111003-) in the ringfort (GA087-111002-) located c. 8m to SW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
