The National Monuments Service's description

In marshy ground on N bank of a small stream; the monument is overlooked by a partially quarried esker ridge to S. A well-preserved rectangular enclosure (E-W 31m, N-S 28m) defined by an earthen bank and external fosse. Possible entrance at S. From S to SW, the bank is overlain by a modern field boundary, and here the fosse has been disturbed by the widening of a stream. There is a church (GA086-178001-) in the interior.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
