The National Monuments Service's description
In SW part of a field system (GA073-081002-), it sits close to W end of a low ridge. Poorly preserved oval ringfort (E-W 67.7m, N-S 42.7m) defined by a bank of earth and stone from NNW through N to ESE, and elsewhere by a scarp. From SW to W the monument has been quarried out. Inside the bank at ENE is a low rectangular mound (L 5.9m, Wth 4.8m). A gap at ESE may be original. Abutting the monument at NW is a rectangular annexe (E-W; L 33m); probably a later feature.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
