The National Monuments Service's description

On the NW shoreline of Fínis, on a small headland, overlooking beaches to the NE and SW. A ruined congested districts board house lies c. 20m to the SE. This rectangular sunken building (4.2m N-S; 2.7m E-W), which was brought to our attention by Erin Gibbons in April 2014, is constructed of granite boulders. A gap (Wth 0.7m) at the N end of the E wall marks the doorway. Double-walling (Wth 0.6m) is evident along the E wall but only the inner face of the other walls, which are up to 1m below the surrounding ground level, is visible. The date and function of this building are unknown. It may be associated with the derelict house.
