The National Monuments Service's description
Close to SW shore of Loch na Scainimhe. A small circular cashel (NW-SE 18.7m; NE-SW 12.8m) known locally as Oileán an Bhalla (Robinson 1985, 14-15). Defined by a much-collapsed drystone wall (Wth 1.6-2.8m, H 3m), best preserved from E to SSW. At N is a small quay. (Layard 1897, 374; Killanin 1954, 103)
