The National Monuments Service's description
In flat pastureland, 350m SSW of a ringfort (GA074-004----) and 130m E of Annaghbeg Cottage. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a circular tree-planted enclosure. The present remains comprise a circular enclosure (D 29m) defined by a regular earthen scarp/bank and external fosse. Limestone blocks on the external face of the scarp at S may be part of a stone revetment. Mature trees are regularly spaced along the scarp/bank and in the interior. Probably a tree-ring enclosure but it could be a landscaped ringfort.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
