The National Monuments Service's description
When initally visited in 1983, a section of the bawn wall survived at the NW corner of the tower house (GA070-067----). It abuted the W end of the N wall and was evident for 8m running on a N-S axis. Towards its N end is was a dilapidated arched ope (Wth c. 2.4m). Nolan (1901a, 41) described this as 'the arched entrance to the bawn', noting that 'steps ascended to the top of the archway': these were not located. On a revisit to the area in July 2011, it was noted that the 'arched entrance' had collapsed.
