The National Monuments Service's description

On the td. boundary close to lakeshore, 300m SE of the Augustinian abbey (GA069-001013-). It consists of a natural overgrown oval spring (E-W 2m, N-S 1.5m) bounded by a field wall composed of roughly built limestone blocks. (Cochrane 1901, 319; Fahey 1904, 135; O'Flanagan 1927, Vol. 1, 266; Killanin and Duignan 1967, 57)
