The National Monuments Service's description
In the former demesne of Weston House and 80m NNE of an enclosure (GA061-003----), situated in a field known locally as the 'ring field'. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1915) as an oval enclosure (c. 45m by c. 40m) planted with trees. According to local information, the bank was levelled in the early 1960s to fill the fosse. In November 1984, the monument was defined only by a band of darker vegetation (Wth c. 3m) from S through W to N. There was a possible souterrain (GA061-122001-) within the interior. On re-inspection in October 2001, the ephemeral outline of the enclosure (43m E-W; 41m N-S) was still visible. In addition, the faint outline of a fosse and outer bank were evident from SSW to W.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
